2017 promises to bring us some fabulous new wedding trends, from dresses, to decor. Here are the 6 trends we're most excited for!
(And remember, contact us if you want help planning an on-trend wedding without breaking the bank!)
1. Fresh Nature Touches Everywhere
While we will always love over-the-top, glamorous florals - 2017 trends are pointing towards more natural touches for weddings. Think "forest chic."
This includes fresh, understated bouquets full of beautiful greenery. Natural elements like moss, boxwood walls and table garlands have been popular for a while now. We expect to see new twists on these gorgeous green elements.
2. Covering Up Those Naked Cakes!
Naked cakes were huge in 2016 and the new year brings us a new version of this cake style: barely frosted cakes.
These barely frosted cakes show a little "skin" but are mostly frosted in a natural-looking style with buttercream. These cute cakes are best adorned with fresh fruit and/or natural greenery!
3. Focus on Local
This trend takes "farm-to-fork" to the next level. We expect to see even more local touches involved in weddings, beyond the catering. Local beers (and sometimes home brews) and wines are on the rise for bar choices. Hiring your favorite local band or musician to play during your wedding is also a great touch!
More couples are looking local for favors, too. Our two favorite ideas: mini jars of local honey or jam. If your hometown has a renowned treat or snack - think about working it into your wedding's dessert bar or favor.
4. Technology (It's the Fuuutuuure)
There are so many new ways to capture and share fun moments at your wedding! SnapChat geofilters are a great way to get your guests Snapping moments, and personalize your big day - beyond your wedding's hashtag.
Some couples are even live-streaming their weddings so that out of town guests can still be a part of the day. More photographers are including "Instagram video edits" in their packages so that couples have fun, short videos to share on their handles. 2016 trends like slow-motion video booths and drone videos should continue to rise in popularity in 2017
5. Unconventional Food
While food trucks and family-style meals have been popular for weddings for a while now, we expect to see more couples opt for unconventional catering.
Options like taco bars and wood-fired pizzas are both economical and fun. Small plates and heavy appetizers that guests can enjoy all night are going to be popular picks for fun-loving couples.
6. P-A-R-T-WHY? Because We Gotta...
By far our favorite 2017 trend is more focus on FUN at weddings. Couples are pulling away from traditional weddings and cutting down ceremony times, so that they can enjoy lawn games, dancing, delicious food and quality time with their guests
It's no secret that photo booths and lawn games made a huge splash in 2016 weddings. In the new year, we can look forward to even more fun entertainment - with some couples opting for live performers, scavenger hunts and photo challenges.
